Concert (1)

St Mary’s Church , Thame, OX9 3AJ, 12 Mar 2016 19:30

The melody of the Sibelius Romance has popular appeal as does the Serenade for Strings by Elgar with our players. Puccini thought his I Crisantemi so good he reused it in several operas. The use of haunting folk tunes in Romanian Dances of Bartok also appealed to the young Janacek and his Suite for Strings, tuneful and easy on the ear.
