Muck out Moreton 2014

Moreton, 13 Apr 2014 10:00

Each year people from the Moreton community get their old clothes on and walk the country roads of Moreton and clear the litter from the ditches and other places in and around Moreton. If you would like to join the Moreton team please contact Sue Downhill and she will put you in touch with the Moreton organisers. Biffa are kindly picking up the litter bags from different points around Moreton rather than volunteers having to lug it all to one point. We hope we won't find any needles ! But if we do - we don't pick them up - we just let Biffa know where these are and they will take care of these. Litterpickers, hi-vis jackets, gloves (similar to surgical) and the bags are supplied by Biffa but more litterpickers will be supplied by a variety of organisations from Thame e.g. Thame Equipment Bank. The equipment for litterpicking will be delivered to Racquets Fitness Centre during the week before the event. We'll be devising a way of divvying up the litterpickers as, although we are organising for as many as we can, there won't be one each!

Concert (1)

St Mary’s Church , Thame, OX9 3AJ, 12 Mar 2016 19:30

We begin with a light hearted Divertimento, by a young Mozart entertaining his listener. The melody of the Sibelius Romance has popular appeal as does the Serenade for Strings by Elgar with our players. Puccini thought his I Crisantemi so good he reused it in several operas. The use of haunting folk tunes in Romanian Dances of Bartok also appealed to the young Janacek and his Suite for Strings, tuneful and easy on the ear.
